About the Photographer

Victor Schrager

For over thirty years, Victor Schrager has devoted himself to still life photography. When he began his career the genre was seen as peripheral, but he was quickly successful in restoring its relevance. His work was included in the Whitney Biennial’s first photography section in 1981. Since then he has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the world and published a number of books.

Schrager’s three books with Amy Goldman display a delightful fusion of his fine art interests with the mission of celebrating the beauty and botanical significance of their horticultural subjects. His editorial and advertising commissions include Martha Stewart Living, Town & Country, Departures, Neiman Marcus, Coach, Doyle Partners, and Tiffany & Co., among many others.

Schrager lives and works in New York. Educated at Harvard, he has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the MacDowell Colony, and the National Endowment for the Arts. His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
